St. Dekester

saint_dekester

St. Dekester  was created using features in Photoshop such as the Sphere filter and Dodge Tool. The Sphere filter was used to make St. Dekester’s hand pudgy and the Dodge Tool was used to blend the clashing colors from different layers together to make the picture look more natural and realistic. Although St. Dekester’s skin did not originally look like it was painted I used the blend mode multiply and on the combined paint and face layer to create the illusion that St. Dekester’s face was painted like the rest of the picture.

Random stuff

awesome-things

This project was created using skills from the previous projects throughout this year. I used Photoshop features like the magnetic lasso to cut the man-bat, fuchsia dress, rat cake, and drone out to put them on the hawk picture. Then I used the text tool to write obtuse in the upper left corner of the picture.

iPod Me

This is the iPod Me add I created using the pen tool and gradient features of Photoshop CC 2015. The first thing you have to do to create this add is take your picture and then use the pen tool to create smooth curves while tracing your outline. After I used the pen tool to create the outline I filled it in with black. Next I added a new background layer and changed the color of it to a dark purple and then used the gradient tool by clicking in the center of the picture and dragging to the corner of the picture to make the color lighter in the middle and fade out into dark purple around the edges. The final steps of the project were to make the earbuds with the elipse tool, make the iPod shape with the rounded rectangle tool (both with a white fill), and finally connect the earbuds to the iPod using the pen tool in its Path mode and then stroking the path with white.

The Pen Tool

basic-shapes

The pen tool is a tool in Adobe Photoshop CC 2015. The pen tool is used to create and outline shapes, it is perfect for making shapes you could not draw freehand with other tools such as the paintbrush. Using the pen tool you can create straight edges by  points by Alt clicking and can create curves by clicking and dragging from the point. If you need to change the direction of your curve then you must hold Alt and click and drag from the anchor point to where you want your curve to go.
